What is Cystic Acne
One of the most unpleasant, unaesthetic and severe forms of acne is cystic (also called nodulocystic) acne. The big blemishes appear on the face or other parts of body (shoulders, chest, back, etc.) and can be very painful sometimes.
It charcterized by strong redness, inflammation and in some cases can cause scars.
Some people think that all the forms of strongly developed pimples are symptoms of “cystic acne” but cysts are the most severe type of cystic acne exhibition. Systs are hard round growths under the skin, which contain liquid.
Aside from the cysts the skin can be affected by:
- Papules
- Pustules
- Nodules
Papules are inflamed acne lesions, look like small red lumps and don’t contain pus.
Pusules differ from the papules: they have white top which consist of pus and often follow the papules. The majority of the people, when they are talking about “pimples”, mean pustules.
Nodules are the last form: they are hard and painful lumps under the skin. Those are larger than papules and form deep within the skin.
This type of acne severity can be treated only by a specialist. Dermatologist must be visited because it usually become hard to control cystic acne treatment.
